KinList — Privacy Policy

KinList (“the app”, “we”, “our”) is a family shopping-and-packing list app. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. We designed KinList to collect nothing about you.

The short version

• Your lists and items are stored in your own iCloud account using Apple’s CloudKit. They sync across your devices and to family members you choose to share a list with — and nowhere else.
• The developer cannot see your lists, items, or who you share with. That data lives in your private iCloud, which Apple controls; we have no access to it.
• KinList has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs.

What data the app handles

List content you create — list names, items, quantities, categories, and favorites. Stored in your iCloud account via CloudKit. Used only to show and sync your lists. We never receive a copy.

Sharing information — when you invite someone to a shared list, Apple’s CloudKit sharing handles the invitation. Participant names shown in the app come from Apple’s sharing system. We do not collect or store contacts, phone numbers, or email addresses.

“Added by” attribution — for shared lists, the app records an Apple-provided identifier for who last changed an item, so it can show a name like “You” or a family member’s name. This stays within your iCloud data.

Notifications — the app can show local notifications when a shared list changes. These are generated on your device from the synced data. No notification content is sent to us or any third party.

What we do NOT collect

We do not collect personal information, usage analytics, device identifiers, location, contacts, or advertising data. KinList contains no third-party tracking or advertising code.

Data storage, security, and retention

All list data is stored in Apple iCloud/CloudKit and secured by Apple’s infrastructure and your Apple Account. Retention and deletion are controlled by you: delete items or lists in the app, or manage/erase the app’s data from Settings → Apple Account → iCloud on your device. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side.

Children’s privacy

KinList is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the date above.
